UFO book author Rupert Matthews in line to be MEP

A Conservative politician who was in line to succeed an outgoing MEP is under scrutiny by his own party over his books on UFOs and aliens.
European parliamentary rules state when an MEP resigns there is no by-election, and instead the next in line fills the vacancy.
Previous MEP Roger Helmer said publisher and writer Rupert Matthews was entitled to take his place to represent the East Midlands in Europe.
BBC East Midlands Today political editor John Hess reports.

Are we being conditioned by our respective government's via the media to accept UFO's ?

By Mac

Are we? Are we being conditioned to more readily except partial disclosure or even open contact without becoming too upset ? I've noticed dozen's of u.f.o. / e.t.h. & e.d.h. commercials over the last three decades. Here's a tiny fraction of the commercials that have been released throughout the globe. Notice that they are all quite humurous, maybe they want the information in our mind's but don't want us to think about it too much? Just an idea - what do you think ?

News of ET contact will likely first come from social media channels

Social media channels like Twitter and Facebook have developed into valuable news delivering and receiving platforms. Social media services are accessible on desktop computers, laptop computers, tablet computers, smartphones, and even televisions. In this constantly connected world, social media has become the fastest way to disseminate breaking news. It stands to reason then that social media will be used to broadcast news of extraterrestrial contact. And those who actively follow social media channels will likely be among the first to know about any such contact.
The BBC recently reported that news of extraterrestrial contact “may reach most people via a tweet from a Seti astronomer.” And according to the Daily Mail, because of the instant nature of social media, you might know about ET contact before a government agency does.
SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) astronomers recently explained that they “have no obligation to report [contact] to an official body, and can simply inform people what they have discovered and they do not know of any formal procedure of how to deal with it.” Once an extraterrestrial signal is detected, it will be up to the man who heads up SETI’s Post-detection Teskgroup, Arizona State University professor Paul Davies, to respond. What type of response does Davies have in mind? He told the BBC that a response “would have to be something aliens and humans could both understand . . . at a mathematics and physics level.”
Hopefully the extraterrestrials who do make contact are better at those subjects than I, because I am not very good with math or physics.
You can read more about the power of social media as an information/news tool in the December/January issue of Open Minds magazine.

"A video posted on YouTube, apparently shows a UFO flying over the city of quietly Raumschiff, the 8.7 km of Berlin in broad daylight 2 this month. The author of the video shows the ease and precision shooting the object, giving details about distance and actual behavior of the object.

This object appears to be a considerable distance from the site of the shooting, showing that he can have more than 5m in diameter. Note also that the object seems to have a linear trajectory, without any interference from the wind, perhaps indicating that the object is not a balloon, although we can not rule it out".

Close encounters in the Home Counties: Two 'alien aircraft' sightings in one week in 'UK's UFO hotspot'

They hover in close formation visible against the backdrop of blue Kent sky.
Less than a week later the two mystery objects are joined by another pair and this time are seen over Essex, shining brightly against the dawn.
The remarkably similar sightings were made just 30 miles apart in an area claimed as the UK's UFO hotspot.
On January 6 Ernestas Griksas, 21, took a photo of a cherry-picker outside his home in Chatham, Kent.
Less than a week later four glowing discs were seen in the sky over Essex in the early hours of the morning

When he looked at the image afterwards he the bright disc-shaped objects.
He told the Sun: 'There are two white discs I can't explain. I'm nowhere near a flightpath. One is slightly fainter as if it is further away or going at a different speed.'
The second sighting came was last Friday at 7am when car salesman Josh Cummins spotted four bright objects in the sky as he drove to work through Loughton, in Essex.

Mr Cummins, 21, told the newspaper: 'I nearly crashed. I stopped to take this picture with my mobile. It was like the UFOs were surfing the clouds. They were there for 15 seconds then vanished.
'I wasn't a believer in UFOs but this made me think again.'
UFO fanatics will no doubt be enjoying what they would claim is evidence to support their theories of alien life.
While the phenomenon of flashing lights in the sky has been seen - and dismissed - in the past.
Expert Nick Pope said: 'The South East is now the hotspot for UFO sightings.'
